The Snowdonia National Park is a magnet for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts. The Llyn Peninsula offers quaint coastal towns and some of the best sailing and surfing in Wales.

Betws-y-Coed is a charming small town where you can buy everything you need to tackle a day in the Snowdonia mountains.

The walled town of Conwy overlooks the estuary of the River Conwy. The castle is one of the most impressive examples of mediaeval military architecture and offers spectacular views of the estuary and mountains. Also worth a visit must be Plas Mawr - the finest example of an Elizabethan town house in the UK.

Blaenau Ffestiniog was once the capital of slate quarrying. One of the old quarries has now been converted into a tourist attraction. At Llechwedd Slate Caverns, take the tramway into the mountain into spectacular chambers where a miner describes the working of the mine. There are easy links from Llandudno railway station to the narrow gauge railway that runs through Snowdonia to the town of Portmadog.

The picturesque castle town of Beaumaris nestles by the Menai Strait enjoying stunning views to the Snowdonia mountains. Beaumaris provides many facilities in it's idyllic surroundings, from horse riding to sailing, walking and golfing.

Portmeirion is a private village created using a combination of architectural follies and specially designed buildings which provide a fascinating mix of styles and is a fabulous day trip visit from Llandudno.
